Helen Bergh was a long-time museum employee and advocate. After a long and stellar career in teaching, Helen joined the staff of the Dacotah Prairie Museum in 1971 as Curator of Education. She developed and gave museum tours, collected and cataloged artifacts, and compiled extensive research for exhibits and programs. She created the popular "Afternoons in the Past" which is still enjoyed by 3rd grade students from Aberdeen and all over Brown County. Students learn about pioneer life through artifacts and by participating in candle making, butter churning, and chores such as washing laundry by hand.

The museum is grateful for the legacy created by Helen Bergh and the education department strives to live up to her ideals and replicate her passion for teaching and sharing with students and patrons.
