No clothing or commissary items will be allowed to be brought to inmates housed at the Brown County Jail. Inmates that are housed at the Brown County Jail will be allowed to either bring in or have brought in the following items once. 5 pairs of underwear, 5 pairs of ankle socks and 3 wireless bras.
No packages will be accepted unless the inmate has received prior approval by the Jail Administrator.
To mail a letter to an inmate send it to the Brown County Jail and the post office will deliver it. Any person mailing contraband to an inmate will be prosecuted. All mail, newspapers or approved magazines must be delivered by the US Post Office. We do not accept mail delivered by hand. The address is; 22 Court St. Suite 1 Aberdeen, SD 57401
If an inmate has work release they will be charged $15.00 a day every day they go out to work. For out of county or state sentences the cost is $50.00 a day for everyday they are housed in the Brown County Jail. There is a one-time fee of $10.00 for a urinalysis sample which must be done before anyone is allowed to go out to work. Work Release Form.
There is some trustee work available to those prisoners who are sentenced; who get used and where is at the discretion of the Sheriff.
