The Auditor's Office is responsible for maintaining all financial records for all County Departments including: payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, preparing the annual budget, establishing levies and apportioning all tax revenue collected to the cities, schools, townships and special districts in the County.  Department expenditures are reviewed for compliance and monthly audits are completed for all cash and cash items in the Treasurer's Office and verification of bank account balances are performed.  Annual Financial Reports are prepared for all county functions and the landfill, which is an enterprise fund.

The County Auditor serves as the clerk of the County Commission and records and preserves the records of all Commission proceedings. The Auditor is also responsible for preparing the agenda for all meetings and publishing the legal notices; including but not limited to: meeting minutes, public hearing notices for bid lettings, alcohol and malt beverage license applications, Ordinances and tax deed sales.

The Auditor performs all duties required by law relative to all County, State and Federal elections held in Brown County. The Auditor also maintains all voter registration and election history records.
