4-H Mission

4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

 

4-H Age Requirements

Youth between the ages of 8 and 19 are eligible for enrollment in 4-H. 

Youth must be 8 years of age on or before January 1 of the current 4-H year to enroll. 

Youth turning 19 on or before January of the current 4-H year are no longer eligible for 4-H membership.

Equalization (County Assessor)

Department Responsibilities

The function of the Brown County Equalization is to establish an assessed value for every piece of property within the county. Those property values are then used to determine the real estate tax due from that property.

Non-agricultural property is assessed according to what value in dollars it would sell for on an open market. Agricultural property is assessed according to the amount of and capability of each different soil type within an agricultural property to produce an agricultural commodity.

Responsibilities

The Brown County Welfare Department duties are to provide necessary support to ensure the survival of indigent clients who are county residents. Through an application process determination of assistance is based on South Dakota Codified law and County guidelines.
